we showed up to kat and david’s orange county engagement session to find chains and gates locking us out. unbeknownst to us (and the park service, apparently, since the website still listed it as open!) the previous month of rainy socal weather caused muddy conditions, forcing the park to close down for a spell. a quick brainstorm and a caravan later, we drove into coto de caza for some open space all to ourselves. the weather gave us some serious pacific northwest vibes (really though - there was even fog on the mountains as i drove out of town), so we embraced the chill and went for a stroll through the trees. a thousand kisses and one arm-wrestling match later, we said our goodbyes. can’t wait for their beer-drenched celebration this summer!
when taylor and zach approached me about shooting their engagement photos in yosemite national park, i was beyond thrilled. i love it up there and actually take an annual trip to camp, hike, drink wine, unplug, eat banana boats and hit the reset button. yosemite is one of those places (much like the grand canyon) that makes you feel minuscule in the best possible way.
taylor is a true mountain girl - zach proposed on a cliff in the swiss alps - and my heart skipped a beat when she sent me a photo of the flower crown she intended to wear for our session. i LOVE a good flower crown and was stoked that she decided to lean into her fairy-nymph-princess-hipster-goddess vibe. zach is a showman - front man for the dustbowl revival - and was totally game to play in the woods.
i'd like to think we did john muir proud.
